The Boston Jr Shamrocks continued their stellar improvement this past weekend. They travelled to Syracuse for a two game set. Both games were very well played. The Shamrocks led most of the way but came up short late in both games losing 2 to 1 and 4 to 2 with three power play goals and an empty net goal in the second game.

Coach John McLean was very pleased with the effort, considering the Shamrocks team played Syracuse on opening weekend back in September 2007, losing 6 to 1 and 10 to 2.

The improvement displayed this past weekend confirms the efforts and commitment of Coach John McLean and the entire Shamrocks team.

The Boston Jr Shamrocks continued their strong improvement with a 4 to 3 win over Applecore, who is currently in third place in the Southern Division at 17 – 14.

The Shamrocks took a 4 to 1 lead but held on to win despite some very extensive shorthanded situations during the second and third periods: goaltending and strong defense, along with excellent penalty killing were the keys to the win.

In the second game against Applecore, the Shamrocks surrendered three quick goals in the first period and then played Applecore even for the balance of the game losing 6 to 2.

Coach John McLean continues to be pleased with the team’s improvement not only with the regular players but the new players as well.

The Boston Jr Shamrocks have a three game set this upcoming weekend. They will play a home game against South Shore at Walter Brown Arena and will travel to Syracuse to play the Syracuse Stars in a two game set.

Motivation, improvement and development cannot always be measured by wins and losses! The Boston Jr. Shamrocks demonstrated these traits correctly at the most recent Junior showcase in Marlboro, MA.

The Shamrocks are also very pleased to announce that Scott Barchard, the Shamrocks #1 goaltender, has recently signed a letter of intent to attend Tufts University in Medford, MA.

The Shamrocks are looking forward to the second half of their season and building on some of the positives from the first half.Their first test will be the upcoming showcase in Marlboro, MA from January 3 – 7, 2008. They will play teams from other leagues, along with teams from the EJHL.

Continuous improvement will be the second half theme and with that winning should follow. The players and coaching staff continue to work diligently, which coupled with the improvement required, should make for a successful second half of the season for Shamrocks.
